Poste Vaticane. Streets of Vatican City, Italy
Limited edition fine art print.I decided to revisit the streets of my barrio Caimito in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. This was the first time after more than 30 years and with a camera at hand. Some areas where I grew up totally disappeared from the map due to displacement when I was a child, including names of entire communities. On the other hand, there is one thing I noticed is still around; the typical bus stop, Parada de Guaguas. I had to stop and capture the Parada. This image reminded me how the bus stop experiences shaped our lives before it was put aside by the convenience and “progress" status of owning a car. Onboard the over capacity passenger buses we learned to live with the collective, squeezed, with no air conditioning in hot and humid weather, interacting with all kinds of characters, accepting the drivers favorite music and hoping that our high school crush will take the same bus that day. We embraced life "as is” with the ambiguous schedules and non-straight routes.
